【インタビュー】楽しいエルジェの日本語レッスン
エルジェエルジェの日本語教室では、2020年7月からオンラインでのレッスンを始めました。オーストラリア、メキシコ、ベトナムなど、遠く離れた国からも参加しています。
LJ started online Japanese lessons in July 2020. There are many participants from countries around the world, including Australia, Mexico and Vietnam.
その中でオーストラリア在住で日本が大好きなヤドさんに、エルジェでの学習についてお話を聞きました。
We interviewed one of our students, Yad. He lives in Australia and is interested in Japan and Japanese culture.
エルジェとの出会い
ヤドさんがエルジェを知ったのは、パートナー（日本人）からの紹介だそうです。
日本語学習を始めたのは彼が高校生の時でしたが、高校を卒業してからは日本語のクラスを受けていなかったので、かなりのブランクがあったそうです。
ヤドさんの目標は、パートナーのご家族と日本語でコミュニ ケーションが取れるようになること。2021年6月にエルジェの日本語レッスンを始めてから2年以上、ほぼ欠かさずレッスンに参加しています。
How did you find out about LJ?
Yad was introduced to LJ by his partner - who is Japanese. Yad’s first experience with Japanese was studying it in high school, so it has been a while since Yad took Japanese language classes.
Yad’s goal is to be able to communicate with his partner’s family in Japanese. He has been a regular student with LJ for over two years, having started in June 2021.
エルジェの日本語レッスンで好きなところ
ヤドさんは、「エルジェの先生たちが、参加者に何を学びたいか?を聞いて独自にカリキュラムを作ってくださることです」と言ってくれました。
「文化や伝統、ビジネス用語など、参加者の興味に合わせてアレンジしてくれるので楽しく学べます」と話してくれました。
What do you like about LJ lessons?
Yad is very appreciative of the time and effort the LJ teachers put into each of their lessons; he highlighted that the teachers work hard to make the LJ lessons unique, and will at times tailor the lessons to the participants’ interests such as culture, traditions, business terms, etc.
日本語の勉強で一番難しいこと
ヤドさんにとっては、日本語の「受動態」と「使役形」の動詞活用が特に難しいそうです。
「多くの日本語学習者が「漢字」が一番難しいと言うかもしれないけれど、私は会話を中心に勉強しているので、動詞の活用が1番複雑です」と話してくれました。英語ではこれらの活用は日本語より簡単だから、とも言っていました。
What is the most difficult part of studying Japanese?
Yad told us that the passive and causative verb conjugations were particularly difficult in Japanese – more so than Kanji. Yad noted further that passive/causative verb conjugations and intransitive/transitive verb forms are comparatively much easier in English.
神話について
ヤドさんは日本の神話が大好きだそうです。特に日本の「妖怪」(怪物)に興味を持っているとのことで、インタビュー中も、「河童(かっぱ)」について話してくれました。
日本の古くから伝わる風習や妖怪の話からも、日本の文化や伝統、自然への大切さについて多くのことを学べるそうです。
About Japanese mythology
Yad is a big fan of Japanese mythology. He is especially interested in Japanese “yokai” (monsters). During the interview, he told us about Kappa, a very famous yokai in Japan.
Yad believes that we can learn a lot about Japanese culture and traditions, as well as Japan’s respect for nature, through Japanese folklore and anecdotes of yokai.
一番楽しかったエルジェのイベント
ヤドさんは「どれも楽しかったです!」と即答してくれました。
エルジェでは、クリスマスパーティーやカルタ大会など1年を通してたくさんのイベントを行なっています。
ヤドさんはこれからも全てのイベントに参加したいと話してくれました。
What was the most enjoyable LJ event?
Yad let us know that he had enjoyed all of them. LJ has many events throughout the year, including a Christmas party, as well as a Karuta tournament. Yad told us that he had had a lot of fun each time and would like to participate in all future events.

Throughout the interview, Yad answered each of our questions in very fluent Japanese.
Most of all, we were impressed by the way he talked about how much he appreciates LJ's teachers and all the events.
